Positron Annual Conference Wraps up in San Antonio
San Antonio, Texas, December 9, 2005
The inaugural Positron Annual Conference, which concluded yesterday, was applauded as a glowing success by all who attended. Braving unusual cold and wintry conditions, Positron users from around the nation gathered in San Antonio, Texas, to learn from Positron experts, network with their peers and to help shape the future of Positron’s growing family of fully-integrated, end-to-end suite of public safety solutions and services.
Spanning three days, participants were treated to global sessions including a keynote address from Mary Boyd, Vice President, Government and External Affairs for Intrado and an informative and engaging look at the experiences of Thomas E. Nudo Sr., ENP, of Bay County Emergency Service, Florida.
The presentation of Positron VIPER (Voice Over IP for Emergency Response) drew tremendous interest. Positron VIPER is based on the use of the non-proprietary Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) for the delivery of voice services, providing a fully digital VoIP next generation 9-1-1 solution. This reflects Positron's commitment to developing solutions that provide the most flexible offering from a technical and cost effective standpoint. Positron VIPER addresses customers' demands for a scalable solution that allows them to move easily and efficiently onto a single physical network by integrating data, voice, and future video/wireless traffic while at the same time benefiting from next generation PBX services.
The conference included three full-day tracks, providing intensive training on call taking, computer aided dispatching, mapping and records management. Each track was heavily attended and ran well past the scheduled times.
The closing day saw feedback and planning for the future and was wrapped up by a special Positron partner exposition, where many industry leaders were available to showcase their products and expertise.
“This was an amazing forum and I have learned so much and felt that I was participating in something that was truly meaningful” said the director of one PSAP, adding “The only complaint I have is that it had to end.”
In his closing comments, Paul Guest, Director of Marketing at Positron, thanked the attendees for their participation and said “I am proud to be a part of this conference and I am honored to have been your host this week. I am overjoyed by the level of your participation and by your feedback, and I look forward to working with you in the future and seeing you next year in San Diego, California.”
