Monett, Missouri, "The Home of the Ozarks," is a progressive community with numerous industries making the city their home. The population swells during the day as both blue and white collar personnel commute to work. The Monett Police Department serves a population of about 10,000 in a roughly nine-square-mile area, an area that extends beyond the city limits. The communications center dispatches for two police departments, two fire departments and an ambulance service.

In 2004, Communications Director Bonnie Witt-Schulte decided that it was time to upgrade their legacy dispatch equipment. "We were using an outdated system. We couldn't get parts anymore," says director Witt-Schulte. "We decided that we were going to upgrade to the best, most technically up-to-date system available, including mapping."

The Police Department went through an exhaustive review process with numerous manufacturers coming in to provide demonstrations of their solutions. "It took about 4 months to make the decision. We reviewed the technical specifications of the different vendors' equipment. We also let our dispatchers test-drive the systems," said Ms. Witt-Schulte.

"When it came time to make our final decision, we realized that Positron's Power 911 and Power MAP offered the best solution for us," Ms. Witt-Schulte indicated. "Power 911 and Power MAP were the easiest to use. Positron also offered the training on-site. Best of all, we were up and running in about three months and finally able to locate wireline and wireless calls on our map."

Power MAP provides enhanced support of Wireless E911 calls and can configure each wireless provider's class of service to automatically search different data sources and display information that the operator needs - such as when to perform a repeat ALI.
