Positron Public Safety Systems has been awarded a contract for the deployment and maintenance of a country-wide public safety solution in Chile. This national system, serving the Chilean Police (Carabineros) consists of over 200 positions of Positron's Power 911 Intelligent Workstation, Power CAD computer-aided dispatching software, Power MAP, a computer-based mapping solution, Power MOBILE for mobile dispatching and Power AVL automatic vehicle location. For this project, Positron has joined forces with Telefónica de Chile, a major telecommunications company and subsidiary of Telefónica Spain.

Carabineros de Chile, the unique Police Department for this country with nationwide responsibility, desired to replace their current system by one containing all the advantageous features available in the most advanced emergency response tools in the public safety systems field.

Power 911 is Positron's computer-based call-handling application. It is an integrated Intelligent Workstation that provides call takers with on-screen control of both landline and wireless calls in a wide variety of telephony environments. Through an intelligent approach to information display and management, Power 911 enhances emergency call handling efficiency and consistency.

Power CAD is a configurable Computer Aided Dispatch system providing complete resource and incident management for single and multi-agency environments. Power CAD provides dispatchers with both graphical drag-and-drop and command-line control that increases dispatcher efficiency and accuracy.

Power MAP is a dedicated public safety map viewer providing automatic display and management of calls, incidents, responses and resources. Power MAP's blend of sophisticated engineering and simplified operation allows agency personnel to locate callers and direct emergency responses quickly and accurately. Power MAP provides enhanced support of Wireless E911 calls and can configure each wireless provider's class of service to automatically search different data sources and display information that the operator needs - such as when to perform a repeat ALI.

With Power AVL, dispatch centers can have up to the minute location and status information regarding their fleets allowing for improved dispatching and higher levels of safety for those living in the area and those public safety personnel who may be in harm's way. It is not always possible for a public safety dispatcher to have intimate knowledge of the city and current status of the fleet. Power AVL answers the question of who is available and who is closest (not necessarily the same vehicle).

Positron's mobile application suite is a full-featured system designed for public safety, providing field personnel with up-to-the-minute incident and assigned resource information. With its powerful information sharing capability, Power MOBILE is a full-featured solution for field personnel.

The turnkey system consists of a single primary 60-position center located in the capital city, Santiago de Chile, and 28 remote centers located in various cities throughout the country. The installation is planned in three phases, deploying approximately 100 positions in the first year in the main center and 8 regional centers, and the balance over the subsequent two years in the remaining 20 regional centers.

The Police mobile force will start with 120 mobile units, increasing to up to 2000 units over the following years.

Positron is making great inroads on the international market front, and is enjoying a reputation for solid applications and innovative solutions to support the needs of disparate agencies. This latest achievement in Chile serves to augment Positron's reputation on the world stage.
